The IBSS Postdoctoral Research Programme is designed for doctoral graduates who want to continue developing their scholarly and professional research.
Participants undertake an approved research project under academic supervision, develop greater depth within their chosen field and work towards a substantial scholarly research output.
The flexible research structure allows experienced academics, executives and professionals to continue their existing responsibilities while undertaking advanced research.
This is a postdoctoral research programme undertaken after completion of a doctoral qualification. It is not another doctoral degree and should not be presented as an additional PhD.

The programme is built around supervised independent research rather than conventional taught coursework. Candidates progress from an approved research concept through proposal development, research, evaluation and final academic completion.
Establish the proposed area, research problem, objectives, questions and intended contribution.

Undertake the approved project with periodic supervision and documented progress reviews.

Postdoctoral research is not intended to operate like a conventional taught programme. Candidates are expected to demonstrate advanced intellectual independence while using supervision to strengthen the quality and direction of their work.

Candidates participate in scheduled progress reviews throughout the programme. Reviews may consider research completed, literature development, data collection, analysis, challenges and planned work.
Admissions
Entry Requirements.
Admission is intended primarily for candidates who already hold an appropriate doctoral-level qualification.
A recognised doctoral-level qualification such as PhD, DBA, EdD, DSc, Professional Doctorate or another doctoral qualification considered appropriate to the proposed research.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to undertake advanced independent research. Previous publications are beneficial but are considered alongside the wider academic and professional profile.
Candidates submit a preliminary research concept or proposal describing the intended area of postdoctoral research.
Admission is subject to academic review, suitability of the proposed research and availability of appropriate supervision.
